A big thank you to all of those who attended on Saturday and made it such an enjoyable event.
A special thanks to Darren (our Cub Master) for organizing the quiz on Saturday and also to Mike (Trustee) who helped on the catering front. When all the money is in we will have made a fantastic £390 and £64 of this was made on the raffle drawn on the night.
We couldn’t post this on the night as our Beavers were undertaking a secret mission to make Mother’s Day cards. But now the day has past, here is a behind the scenes of the clever colour mixing they achieved to get their designs.
Saturday 9th March – 19:30 for a 20:00 start.

A small selection of our leaders paid for themselves to attend the WFIS general assembly because of our group currently lacking the funds to cover the costs. They flew to Portugal to accept our invitation to become full members after successfully completing our probationary period. Our group now joins over 150 affiliated groups in 65 countries, combining to make a staggering 7 million individuals.
Richard, our GSM, commented, ‘I am pleased to advise that our Scout Group was accepted as a full member of the World Federation of Independent Scouts (WFIS) at their General Assembly in Lisbon, Portugal on last Saturday. The acceptance vote was unanimous, and our three young leaders were greeted with a standing ovation when we were invited into the meeting. There were some 150 Scouts there from many countries and the majority were young leaders!’
Through our membership we can now network with Scouters around the globe.
This week our Beavers were busy exploring again, but not outside this time! Instead, they were in the hut learning all about mixing colours and doing some fascinating experiments to see what colours they could make.
Whether you are a past or present member, we desperately need your help.
As many of you are aware, we need a new scout hut. Our current hut was a temporary building with an end of life around the late 90s. We have kept it serviceable until now, but we are losing the battle. All the grants we are applying for require us to submit a large amount of evidence about how we serve the community. With a new hut, we would also be keen on expanding our home to other community users and charities. We already have several interested parties.
BUT WE NEED YOU!
Anyone who was in our group as a child, helped us as a leader, had children in our sections, is currently a member, or just assisted in any other way. We would be most grateful if you could please write a letter of support (doesn’t have to be long), stating how you believe our group has helped you or your family. Think of this as a simple testimony of your experiences with us. That is all we ask!
