Seniors CanoeIn Senior Scouts, we focus on a wide range of traditional skills mixed with contemporary activities.

At its heart is planning fresh adventures in order to build confidence, self-awareness and to make new friends. Exploration teaches Scouts the importance of honour and care within the community, helping them grow together and individually.

With the focus on independence, the programme is malleable, allowing the Scouts to choose which parts interest them and how they wish to achieve it. This results in a very varied calendar stretching from hikes, wet camps to flying an aircraft!

The Senior Programme

Seniors fire buildingThe programme starts with the Senior being invested, just like any other section. To be invested, they must have either completed their First Class Badge in Scouts, or if they were not a Scout, they can complete a series of activities when they join the section. The senior programme accommodates Senior Scouts joining at any age.

After being invested, the programme comprises five awards, plus they can complete any of the proficiency badges which interest them. The five badges are: Venturer, Bushman, Senior Scout Instructor, Discovery award and ends with the highest badge in Scouting, the St George’s Award.
