We need your help!

EVERYONE PLEASE READ!

Whether you are a past or present member, we desperately need your help.

As many of you are aware, we need a new scout hut. Our current hut was a temporary building with an end of life around the late 90s. We have kept it serviceable until now, but we are losing the battle. All the grants we are applying for require us to submit a large amount of evidence about how we serve the community. With a new hut, we would also be keen on expanding our home to other community users and charities. We already have several interested parties.

BUT WE NEED YOU!

Anyone who was in our group as a child, helped us as a leader, had children in our sections, is currently a member, or just assisted in any other way. We would be most grateful if you could please write a letter of support (doesn’t have to be long), stating how you believe our group has helped you or your family. Think of this as a simple testimony of your experiences with us. That is all we ask!

You can send your letter of support via email to:

Or fill in our contact form.

THANK YOU!

Scouts: Radiation

Tonight the Scouts learnt all about radiation from one of our leaders, who is a soil & rock scientist by day. They learnt all about the good and bad types and measuring some Uranium Ore with a scintillator. It was great to fully appreciate that while the bad type seems to make the news so often; it is also has important diagnostic use in medical science and cancer treatment.

Our Christmas fayre was a great success and we thank all those who helped and attended. We would also like to thank our long running partner, Mytchett Centre, for allowing us to host it in their hall.

Rovers: Weekend Camp

Last weekend our Rovers went on a two day camp in East Horsley. It was rather soggy but a great time was had by all. This was trial for a similar camp which will be planned by our Seniors next year.

Scouts: E1 Hike

Last week, our Scout planned an evening hike of 5km around our local army training ground known as E1. All they had was a map, route card, and compass. The parents were pleased to find all Scouts had found their way back to the pickup point by the end of the evening! Well done to all those who hiked.

After the Beavers did such a great job, the Scouts felt left out! This evening we carved both pumpkins and watermelons to create some fantastic artistic pieces.
